Take an easy hour-long walk from High Heaton Library and through Paddy Freeman. You can enjoy nature and listen to an audiobook. At the end, you can chat about the book you listened to and share your thoughts.

The walk will start and end at High Heaton Library at 10:30 am. You can have a cup of tea or coffee there, and there are toilets you can use.

The path will be paved, and the route will go up and down hills.

The walk is free, and there’s no cost to join in. Tablets with audiobooks are available if you don’t have your own device. Helpers are also on hand to show you how to use the Libraries Borrow Box app for more audiobooks.

What footwear will I need?

All of this walk takes place on tarmacked paths, please note in wet weather can be slippery and therefore grippy trainers would be advisable.

How do I get there?

The start location can be reached by bus, the nearest bus stop is Newton Road-Newton Place. Jesmond metro station 1.5 miles away from the start location. Limited parking is available on local streets . Check the signage for the length of time you can park. Disabled parking is available.

Can children come on this walk?

No - this is walk is for over 18s only.

Can I bring my dog?

No - dogs are not permitted on this walk.

Are there animals or livestock on this route?

No - although route is popular with dog walkers.
