Workshop Overview


Explore the art and science of summer pruning fan-trained stone fruit trees. This workshop will combine theory and practice, equipping you with essential techniques and knowledge to care for your stone fruit trees effectively.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike, fostering a supportive learning environment with plenty of hands-on practice.


Expert Instruction

Led by Mirjam - an orchard enthusiast for the past decade who has led pruning workshops in and around London for the past four years. Mirjam currently manages the orchard at Forest Farm Peace Garden and has worked on behalf of The Orchard Project, assessing students on their accredited orchard management course, and supporting various community groups with orchard care and pruning.


Event Details

Date: Saturday 10 May from 9.30am - 4pm

Location: Sutton Community Farm (SM6 0SW)

Price: £60 per person (includes seasonal, organic lunch)

Concessions: Subsidised tickets of £30 are available for those on a low income or for farm volunteers (includes seasonal, organic lunch)


IMPORTANT: This workshop specifically focuses on fan-trained stone fruit trees (peaches, nectarines, plums, and apricots). This specialised training method requires different techniques than standard tree pruning.

How do I find the farm?

The main entrance to the farm is on Woodmansterne Lane (SM6 0SW), directly opposite Flitton's Plant Nursery. Walk through the gap in the hedge and follow the woodchip path (What3Words: banana.down.gently)

Is there parking?

If coming by car please park on Woodmansterne Lane, as we have no parking on the farm

Is lunch included?

Yes, a seasonal organic plant-based lunch is included! Please make sure you let us know in advance if you have any allergies or dietary preferences

What shall I bring with me?

Please bring gloves and your own sharp secateurs (if you have them) and wear sturdy footwear. We will provide drinking water, tea, coffee and toast.
