Summer pruning

Summer fruit tree pruning is important for managing any unwanted growth from the spring and for encouraging fruit production. The right balance between winter and summer pruning is what will produce healthy, productive trees.

Join us to learn the theory and practice of summer fruit tree pruning, and together we will help to maintain the fruit trees at Western Flatts Cliff Park.

B y the end of the workshop, you will know how to:

  • Prune stone fruit trees, including plum, damson, cherry, apricot and almond.
  • Prune new growth on apple and pear trees following winter pruning.
  • Prune trees to encourage fruit production

What to bring

If you have them, please bring along a sharp pair of secateurs, loppers, a pruning saw and a pair of rubber grip gardening gloves. If you don't have any of these things, not to worry, we'll provide them.

What we'll provide

Tea and coffee.
