Frequently asked questions

Where do we meet?

Meet your guide at the North Lodge Information Centre which is at the Old Brompton Road north end of the Cemetery.

How long is the tour?

The tour lasts about 2 hours, though it depends on the group. Questions are welcome! You can always leave at any point if you are constrained by time.

Are there cafe and toilet facilities?

Yes, there is a cafe opposite the North Lodge Information Centre where we meet, which sells drinks and light snacks, and has toilet facilities for the public to use.

How accessible is the tour?

All the paths are paved or firm, and level, so the walking is easy.

How much does the tour cost?

We wish to make the tours accessible to everyone so there is no fixed fee, but we appreciate donations to support our work. We suggest £10 per person. Pay online with Eventbrite or pay the guide on the day. If you would like to pay the guide directly, there is no need to register, just turn up.

Who are the Friends of Brompton Cemetery?

The Friends of Brompton Cemetery work to preserve & promote the Cemetery as an historic site with a modern role. We help to maintain the cemetery's buildings, monuments & landscape, & encourage its use by the community. We offer guided tours, an Information Centre and other events.

Does the tour include the Catacombs?

No, it does not, though the guide will talk about the Catacombs. Opening the Catacombs safely is a big undertaking, and we offer this as a specialist tour 2-3 times per year. Check on our website or on Eventbrite for the next opening of the Catacombs.

Do I have to reserve a place, or can I just turn up?

Reserving a place and making a donation online helps us manage our numbers, but it is also fine to just turn up on the day and pay the guide directly.
