About this event
This online training will develop your understanding of how children and young people understand and respond to loss, death and bereavement. The content will help you increase your knowledge of the needs of different age groups (from early years to young adults), giving you the confidence to tailor your support appropriately.
Who is this training for?
This training is suitable for individuals whose work brings them into contact with grieving children and young people, for example: health and social care staff, faith leaders, emergency service personnel, and charities. Separate training for education professionals is available, however all are welcome.
We recommend that bereaved families attend our webinar: Supporting a bereaved child - for parents, families and carers.
What will I learn?
During this training, you will:
- Increase your awareness of how children and young people understand and respond to loss, death and bereavement, across all age ranges.
- Gain an understanding of the theories of loss and grieving in relation to children and young people.
- Gain understanding of the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that accompany grief.
- Develop knowledge of practical strategies, and gain greater confidence in, supporting bereaved children and young people.
- Identify ways of looking after yourself and recognise why this is important.
- Receive information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations, and resources available.
Before booking on any training, please read our training terms and conditions. We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training may not be suited to someone who has experienced a recent bereavement.
