About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours 30 minutes

A half-day masterclass on tax and estate planning - designed and led by practising financial planners.

This masterclass will explore the needs, aims and hidden agendas of a multi-generational family tree with complex scenarios and objectives to work through.

Attendees will participate in roundtable discussions on the planning opportunities, technical knowledge and soft skills required to consider and competently advise the different generations.

Space is limited as the event is designed to create meaningful educational and networking opportunities - early registration is recommended.

Working with recognised solution experts from Technical Connection, our Tax & Estate Planning Masterclass is aimed at reskilling and upskilling financial planners.

The event will be hosted and led by the financial planners, with technical experts guiding attendees through workbooks containing case studies, key questions to ask, decision trees, and intergenerational considerations.

We’ve designed this masterclass as we believe there’s no better educational environment than learning from experts in-person.

It gives you the opportunity to get answers to client/case specific questions, share collective insights and experience with your peers, and use that knowledge and understanding to improve the lives of your clients and future generations. Not a product pitch in sight.

‘This was a welcome departure from the usual 'being talked at' events. Around the table we had experienced advisers who engage in the type of IHT planning for HNW clients that I do in my day job. The presentations on the table were interactive and were more focused on scenarios than pushing specific products.’ - 2024 Masterclass attendee

So if you are an experienced financial planner that sees value in peer-learning and professional development, and you feel you could add to the discussions then we would love to have you along. There is also 3 hours of structured CPD available.

What soft skills will you work on:

  • Communication - The ability to articulate a vision and motivate different family members to move towards it is the No.1 skill in intergenerational planning.
  • Collaboration - Considering the needs and compromises of different generations, then being inclusive in the design of a holistic financial plan to build trust.
  • Leadership - Leading discussions, interacting with others and managing change around death, tax and inheritance requires empathy and strong leadership.
