Teen Summer Jewellery Making School (3-Week Course)

Wednesdays | July 23rd – August 6th, 2025 | 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Looking for something creative, hands-on, and fun for your teen this summer? Our Teen Summer Jewellery Making School is a three-week course designed to introduce young people to the art of jewellery design in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.

Course Details:

• Dates: Wednesdays – July 23rd, July 30th, and August 6th

• Time: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM

• Age Group: Teenagers (approx. 11–18)

• Location: The BIS, Whitby Street, Hartlepool

• Snacks provided: Fruit, crisps, juice, and ice pops

• Drop-off & pick-up: Parents/guardians can drop children off in the morning and collect them at the end of the day.

• Teens will need to bring a packed lunch or have dinner dropped off for them (Lunch break is 12-1pm)

What’s Included:

• All tools and materials (copper and sterling silver)

• Supervised, secure environment (2 experienced tutors, first-aid trained staff, locked & council staffed building)

• A form will be provided for parents/guardians to inform us of any allergies or additional needs

What We’ll Be Doing:

• Week 1: Hammered copper pendants – learn texturing, stamping, and metal sawing techniques. In the afternoon, students will make their own version in sterling silver.

• Week 2: Custom dangle earrings – practice on copper, then create a silver set. Non-pierced? No problem! We’ll also make custom ear cuffs.

• Week 3: Stacking rings – create a set of beautiful, hand-crafted rings, starting with copper and finishing with a polished silver version.

Important Info:

• Students must be available for all three sessions.

• Due to the hands-on nature of the course, good dexterity is required, and the sessions may not be suitable for all children.

• Students will remain on-site at all times, supervised throughout the day.

Spaces are limited to ensure each student gets plenty of one-to-one guidance—book early to avoid disappointment!

A bit about us:

Carley trained in Applied Art at CCAD in Hartlepool - Now the Northern School of Art. She specialised in Ceramics, Silversmithing and Textiles with a main focus in Ceramic art. After graduating in 2013 she went on to study a PGCE (14+) at the University of Bolton while living and working in Manchester. She gained most of her teaching experience working in education teaching 11-19year olds and also through teaching classes in the field of ceramics at Muddy Fingers Pottery in Jarrow. In 2018 she began building her brand The Little Silver Kiln where her main intention was to make, sell and teach jewellery. The Little Silver Kiln opened its new studio in 2021 at The BIS on Whitby Street.

We've got some super important class info for you!

If you're joining us on an evening, please note that there won't be anyone in reception. Instead, you will be greeted at the front door starting 10 minutes before the class start, if for any reason you're running late, please send me an email at thelittlesilverkiln@mail.com.

When it comes to getting here, please use the front entrance of the building. For parking, you'll find spaces available at the Dover Street car park next to the building. Just make sure to check the signage for details on parking fees. Please know, there are permit zones on Whitby Street between 8am to 6pm, so be sure to read the street signs before you park.

Now, onto the fun stuff! Safety is super important to us, so please make sure to wear suitable clothing for the class. This means clothing that covers your legs and shoes that cover your feet (no sandals allowed!). And if you have long hair, don't forget to bring a hair tie. Scarves, ties, and loose clothing can be a fire hazard when working with the blow torch, so we want to make sure you're all set. Finally, please bring glasses if you need them for sight.

Please be aware that our studio is currently only accessible via stairs, there is a bathroom right next to the studio so you will only need to use the stairs at the beginning and the end of the class.

We'll be providing snacks, hot and cold drinks during the class, and we are a vegan-friendly studio. If you have any dietary requirements, just let us know beforehand and we'll do our best to accommodate you. And in case you're wondering, our studio is fully vegan-friendly, meaning we don't use any leather or rawhide tools.

If you have any questions please email me at thelittlesilverkiln@mail.com or send our Facebook page a message 😊
