About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Therapy rarely takes place in clear-cut territory. More often, we find ourselves on the edge — where ethical principles meet the complexity of human relationships, and where clarity is needed most.

In this workshop, Malcolm Stern invites us to explore the ethical challenges that emerge in the nuanced realities of practice. From dual relationships and confidentiality boundaries to dilemmas of power, rupture, and repair, we will look at how to stay present, reflective, and ethically attuned in the face of uncertainty.

Together, we will consider how to recognise when we’re at the edge — when competing responsibilities or personal reactions threaten to cloud our judgement — and how to respond with integrity, courage, and care. This session offers space for reflection, peer learning, and practical tools to support ethical awareness not as a checklist, but as a living, relational practice.

This is a workshop for therapists and supervisors who want to deepen their confidence in working with complexity, and who see ethics not as rules alone, but as a guide to holding trust, transparency, and therapeutic responsibility.
