The Tenementals are an award-winning band of academics, artists, and musicians who released their debut album, Glasgow: A History (Vol. I of VI), in late 2024. The album recounts a radical history of a radical city in a radical way and has been met with extensive critical acclaim, in Scotland and internationally. They have played numerous sold-out gigs in their native city and this is a rare opportunity to catch them live in Portobello! Don't miss it!

We’re chuffed to bits to announce our special guests for the night: Mick Lynch, Zara Gladman, and Leah Sinforiani! First up is Mick Lynch, trade unionist and outspoken advocate for workers’ rights, bringing his trademark clarity and conviction to the stage. Followed by Zara Gladman (@zanyzaz), comedian and viral satirist whose sharp sketches have reached millions via Channel 4, TikTok, and BBC Short Stuff. Fresh from a sold-out run at Glasgow’s Oran Mor, Zara is making her Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut this August and was shortlisted for the 2024 Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award. Next up is Leah Sinforiani (@leahsinforiani), one of the Scottish Poetry Library’s Next Generation Young Makars. Her work explores the intergalactic motorways that connect class, gender and sentimental garbage. She’s a founding editor of Big Red Cat Magazine, a Glasgow-based publication showcasing visual art and writing in all its wackiest forms. Leah is currently delivering a series of @splscotland workshops called Mak it Yersel!, dedicated to keeping Scots language alive in 21st century poetry, and she’s also 1/6th of the band King Slipper.
