About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours
  • ALL AGES

Do you know what links Prince Albert and Peter Stringfellow. Which former jail bird had the bird’s eye view of a former prison from the Albert Embankment? There are super sewers and stunning sturgeon with a guest appearance from The Beatles. Discover what gin links this area of Vauxhall with James Bond and why sometimes you really can whitewash history and it’s a good thing...

A river walk with a dry dock and tales of earth, wind, fire and envelopes. It will put a new spring in your step as we touch grass and hunt the lion. We'll be debating pineapple or not in relation to Lambeth Bridge and you'll be amazed what feels like a quiet area is brimming with 200 years of railways, tragedy and intrigue for a Sunday guided walk.

Meet for an 11am start in St Mary’s Gardens outside the Garden Museum. Please allow 2 hours for this walk as we may able to get exclusive access inside one stop as a Lambeth Tour Guide Association bonus. Our tour finishes at Vauxhall Tube station for travel options and places to eat.

All guided tours start at the time listed so please arrive in time for a prompt beginning. Nikky is very happy to advise on travel to the area or recommendations afterwards. All tours are step free where possible and will conclude close to transport links and toilets. Please check with Nikky if the event is suitable for children, pushchairs or dogs.

You are welcome to take photographs on your tour as long as you do not disrupt the group in doing so. Nikky runs the Instagram accounts @southlondontoday and @southlondontourguide which can be tagged and she will give you a heads up where to grab photos on the walk. She is also very happy to hear your questions or stories as for her tours should feel like a shared event not a lecture.
