The Writers' Space @ Whitehawk Library

FREE - ticketed

A two hour writing retreat in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Libraries.

The Writers' Space programme provides a quiet space to write and think alongside other writers and those who want to try their hand at it.

With writing prompts and an opportunity to share for those who need it and simply space to write for those who don't.

Expect to turn up, say hello and find a spot to write, share your intention with the facilitator and write in the quiet company of other writers for two hours. At the end you can tell everyone how it went, though we don't share our work at this session.

Our facilitator, Andrew, will be on hand to offer prompts if you need them.

No previous writing experience necessary - however this isn't a writing class, so most of the time will be spent just writing. This is a great space for those who are writing a project or just want a few prompts to get into the writing flow.

Ironclad was created in 2020 as a place for writers, artists and theatre-makers to find each other, learn about the business of making art, and develop their skills.

Founded by producer and writer couple Michelle Allen and Andrew Allen, after running the Cast Iron Theatre company for over seven years, Ironclad’s mission is to support, signpost and provide spaces where people can build community, write, make, discuss and learn.

We know how hard it is to make connections, network and learn about how to get paid for what you do.

We want to support all people and are especially interested in making sure that our work reaches people who currently have low incomes, or come from low income backgrounds.

We’re also neurodivergent and know that being creative and neurodivergent adds additional complexities and barriers to networking, making and putting your work into the world.

We have a mix of free events and some have a cost - which we try to keep as low as possible.

Members of our community - Creative Cauldron (£12 per month) get tons of our events for free - or at a 20% discount plus our own Discord server to chat to friends and peers on. Head to our website for details of how to join us! www.Ironcladcreative.org/creative-cauldron
