About this event

  • Event lasts 4 days 22 hours

We look forward to welcoming participants aged 11 (entering high school) - 17 back to Wiston Lodge (South Lanarkshire) for a great week of folk and traditional music, song, fun and campfire song! The dates are Monday 7th - Saturday 12th July 2025 and all instruments and levels of ability are welcome.

P articipants are treated to a fully residential experience in a spectular Victorian hunting lodge in rural Scotland. There are well experienced house staff on hand at all times as well as song and instrumental tutoring from some of Scotland's finest musicians.

Tutors this year are:

  • Donald Barker (piano, mixed instruments)
  • Ciorstaidh Beaton (mixed instruments, clarsach)
  • Heather Cartwright (mixed instruments, guitar)
  • Josie Duncan (singing, songwriting)
  • Eryn Rae (fiddle)

All instruments are welcome. If you don't play one of the main instruments above you can join in the ensemble classes which are great fun.

Tickets for the week are £400 (all accommodation and meals), extra family members are: £375 and we offer concessionary places at £225. Remember that paying in installments is an option! If would like to give a Tinto Summer School place as a present and would like to make a down payment, select "Pay at the Door" when you checkout, and we'll email you about next steps and a payment schedule.

Each place at Tinto Summer School actually costs £550 and Hands Up for Trad subsidise the amount from our own funds. If you would like to sponsor a place or make a donation for a young person you can do so using the "donation" option.
