About this event

Meet the Dissenters –17th - 19th century characters who refused to conform to strict new laws on religious worship. In death they were buried here, on the edge of the City of London, away from the mainstream churches that persecuted them in life. Discover the final resting place of William Blake, the original ‘Cockney visionary’ poet and artist, and other rebels, radicals and writers. This guided walk comes with special access inside the locked railings of this atmospheric burial ground.

Meeting point: Attendant's Hut - centre of grounds.

Frequently asked questions

Do tours take place when it rains?

Yes. Tours take place in all weathers. There is an abundance of trees which provide a canopy of cover over most of the site.

Can I just turn up, on the day, without booking?

No. All places must be pre-booked to guarantee the presence of a guide.

Is the tour suitable for wheels - wheelchairs, pushchairs - or those with walking difficulties?

The main paths, from which MOST graves are visible, are suitable for all. The paths behind the railings are narrow and consist of gravel so not suitable for wheels. Tours can be tailored to include all - with those able being taken behind the railings to view any graves not seen from the main path.
