About this event

St Bartholomew’s Hospital was founded in 1123 by the monk Rahere and granted to the City of London in 1546 by Henry VIII.

The North Wing of historic St Barts is currently closed for renovation.

While the renovation work is underway, the City Guides offer the opportunity to find out more about the amazing 900 year story of St Bartholomew’s and the surrounding area.

Meeting at the Henry VIII gate outside St Bartholomew’s Hospital the tour takes in the churches of the hospital, its amazing range of architecture ancient and modern, and tell the stories of body snatchers, and heroic and pioneering medics and nurses.

The walk takes place on Fridays at 2.00pm and finishes close to Farringdon Station.

Ticket sales help support the work of Barts Heritage, www.bartsheritage.org.uk

We have a concession ticket for seniors (65+years ) and NHS workers.

If you have a support dog who assists you they are welcome to come, but unfortunately we cannot accommodate any non-support animals.

These tours do not include a visit inside the North Wing which is currently closed for renovation. Bart’s Heritage Trust runs volunteer-led conservation tours while the work is underway.
