About this event
Transoup July 2024
Welcome to Transoup July 2024!
Transoup is a free-of-charge evening meal and safer social space, run by and for trans people in Durham. The event runs from 7pm-10pm and is alcohol-free. A separate space is available in addition to the main hall to support attendees with their access needs.
Sharing food is a core part of the event, and all food made at the space will be vegan. We are skilled at working with complex dietary requirements so when you book your place there is a question about dietary or other requirements. However, you are also welcome to bring your own food if you would prefer to do so.
We have chosen a large well-ventilated space and will have a medical-grade air filter running to enable vulnerable members to the community to attend. We ask you to help keep everyone safe and follow our illness guidelines. Do not attend the event if you feel unwell, even if you have a negative covid LFT test. Even the common cold can have a huge impact on some people. We encourage attendees to take an LFT before the event, even if you feel well. LFTs will be available for free on the door, and you are welcome to take one home to use in advance of the next event. We will also have FFP3 masks for you to use if desired.
We are now holding a newbie half hour, starting at the hall at 6:30 before general admission at 7. This is so that any newcomers have a chance to settle into the space and meet a few faces before the main event begins.
We are putting together an access guide for the space, but in the meantime if you have any access requirements, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
No cops, no terfs, no swerfs ✊

Yes! Please let us know what your dietary requirements are and we will plan the meal accordingly.
No, the space is an alcohol and drug-free event.
Although we now have a larger venue than our old one, we need to cap numbers. Operating a booking system allows us to start a waiting list if necessary, and to check that we know everyone’s dietary requirements.

Probably! Anyone who identifies as trans or nonbinary is welcome in the space. If you’re not sure if the space is right for you, feel free to get in touch with us. But we won’t be policing anyone’s identity.
