Story telling is all the rage… but perhaps because we’ve all heard stories at bedtime, we all think we can tell them for our businesses. Just like because we can all kick a ball we think we can play football!

StoryMaking gets past the tosh and looks at the science of how better to tell stories for your business. And not just tell them, use them.

We’ll look at:

  • Where to find your stories
  • How big your stories should be
  • Who the hero of your stories need to be
  • When to not tell a story at all!
  • Why the bad guys have it easier when it comes to storytelling

All in all, it’s a great, great start to becoming a business story user.

It’s not all just learning. We’ll take time for you to wrap your head around what you’ve learned in an outdoor session and then we’ll come back together in order to start applying what we’ve learned.

Honestly, it’s a no-brainer to be there. And as numbers are remarkably limited … you'd better book your place now ... and join me - Simon Raybould for an afternoon, never to forget!

JFA | Fresh Perspectives are delighted to have internationally rekmowned speaker and author, Dr Simon Raybould as the host for our first TREAD Talk event: StoryMaking. Meet him below!

** Refreshments will be available on arrival and duirng the afternoon.**

Who is Your Story Teller for the afternoon?

Dr Simon Raybould spent 24 years as a research scientist and was at one point the Centre Manager for the UK’s largest social science research unit, second only in impact around the world to MIT in America. So he knows his stuff.

He’s also been a professional actor, playwright and lighting designer for dance companies, so he knows how to hold it together. (And he’s also been a fire-eater, but that’s less relevant! :) )

He’s also the author of the new book StoryMaking ... of which more details can be found below. And a copy of Simon's book will be given to all delegtaes of this TREAD Talk.

Simon's Book: StoryMaking: How to use stories, not just tell them

Stories are powerful. Randomly telling them isn't.

StoryMaking is a lighthearted, but science-orientated, look at how to use stories, not just tell them. It works if you're just in a bar or a cafe, but it really comes into its own when you've got to make business presentations, do some marketing or handle your sales.

You’ll explore at how to find stories and the different uses for stories. You’ll also learn how to keep them, record them and catalogue them... and how to tell them. In short, it's a handy "field guide" to using stories tactically, not just as entertainment.

You’ll get the most out of StoryMaking if you do the exercises. That’s where you’ll really solidify the learning. But if all you have time for is a quick read, you’ll still be better able to have the impact you want to have on the world.
