🥾🥾 Roman Armies and Settlements

A great favourite section on the Hadrian's Wall footpath.

From the car park this linear walk head's eastwards along one of the best-preserved sections of the Wall.

We then head downhill and cross over the River Irthing to see an amazing Roman bridge in the middle of the field (river has changed direction) with a stunning section of the Wall heading upwards behind which we follow into Gilsland. Here we have the opportunity to see the best preserved gateway (Milecastle) through the wall at Poltcross Burn.

We then retrace our steps back to the car park
