About this event

2025 marks 400 years since the death of King James VI & I of Scotland, England and Ireland. Join us on 9-11 July 2025 at the University of Glasgow for a varied, multidisciplinary conference that showcases the most up-to-date research into this fascinating monarch. We are working hard to ensure that the conference is as fun, dynamic and accessible as possible.

The full programme can be accessed on our website: https://understandingjames.wixsite.com/kingjamesconf

And updates will be shared via the website and social media:

There are a range of registration options available for attendees. Please see the listed options for further detail.

All in-person fees include daily lunch and tea/coffee breaks. The full (3 day) registration package includes all additional meals/entertainment (the conference programme outlines the full events in more detail). The day packages differ depending on requirement.

There are reduced fees available for PGR (or other student) attendees and anyone who is unsalaried (understood to be a full-time academic salary or equivalent). This option can be selected at your own discretion, and we hope that the varied fees will allow for the event to be as accessible as possible for PGR and other precariously employed scholars.

The workshops will have limited places and will be available to book at registration on the given days.
