About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

You are warmly invited to this face-to-face learning & development session looking at working class cultures and estates ministry.

With 61% of our parishes in the Diocese having an estate in it, and with working class people being massively under-represented in our churches (and our church leaders) compared to the general population, we all have a lot to learn on what we can do better, how we can communicate better, and work better to include all, and reach all.

This session aims to start us off on that understanding journey specifically around class culture differences and the context of estates.

We hope /aim that you'll come away challenged and with things you can do differently!

Who is it for? for any LDF Staff, Diocese of London church worker or clergy who would find it useful to think about in relation to their work and ministry.

What is it? A morning led by Revd Dr Cris Rogers, where he will present some of the findings from his recent PhD, informed by his own experience of being a working class member of clergy & ministering on a working class estate in Bow, East London for 15 years+.

Where is it? Ground Floor Meeting Room, in London Diocesan House, 36 Causton Street SW1P 4AU.

When is it? Wed 7th May

  • We'll start promptly at 10am. Come at 9.30 if you want coffee & the best of the snacks.
  • We aim that Cris's content/input will be filmed but group discussion will not be recorded, and we don't anticipate that participants will be on camera.
  • We will provide coffee/tea and biscuits.
  • We'll finish at 1pm but do bring your own lunch if you'd like to stay and chat/network with others afterwards.

Anyone that has heard Cris speak on this knows his work is incredibly insightful and relevant, and he brings passion energy and wisdom to share with us all. There will be room for unpacking and our time will be broken up into three segments of input from Cris/group discussion.

Guaranteed to be a really be a really helpful morning as we seek to understand and serve churches better, and help more people to encounter the love of God in Jesus.

Not to be missed!
