Following the usual welcome and introductions, our third Primary Geography Subject Leader Network (PGSLN) meeting of this academic year will begin with an ‘educational round-up’ of themes and issues currently being discussed, useful websites, the latest resources, opportunities for pupils, CPD events, competitions and the many FREEBIES on offer! Time will be built in to explore some of these links and recommendations.
The main part of the meeting will share some of the highlights from the Geographical Association (GA) Annual Conference and Exhibition held in mid-April. Afterwards, we are very lucky to be joined by Mark Enser (former National Geography Lead for Ofsted and an HMI and now working in school support), who will talk about how to quality assure geography by focusing on the key principles for a successful curriculum.
In addition to having opportunities to interact with others by means of various activities and open discussions, you will be able to ask questions. It is hoped that you will not only enhance your understanding of your role and responsibilities as an effective Geography Subject Leader, but also gain further ideas to support your continued whole school curriculum planning and development.
The meeting will conclude with a period of reflection; time to identify the key takeaways and your next steps for the remainder of this academic year and beyond, plus give some feedback via an online form.
