A fabulous NEW opportunity to learn how to create beautiful textile portraits with fabric. This workshop is running at Bloominart CIC Studios in Hartlepool in conjunction with Holly Capstick's textile portrait exhibition - We Are Layers. Take inspiration from Holly's work which will be on display throughout the workshop.
In this workshop, Holly will show you how to make beautiful portraits onto fabric, using layered cottons and plenty of free-motion machine embroidery. You will be shown how to choose appropriate images, transfer onto fabric and use applique techniques and free-motion machine embroidery to create a beautiful face artwork. Even if you haven't done anything like this before, you can still create a fantastic piece of work - beginners welcome.
Bring your own face image to use (clear face image up to 7 inch diameter max is best. Please print on thin/normal paper or email artwork to hollycapstickart@gmail.com at least 5 days prior to the workshop date and Holly will print it and bring it to the workshop for you). Alternatively, we have plenty of template faces you can choose from.
All materials and sewing machines are provided.
We provide hot drinks and biscuits - please bring your own lunch.
Holly is a practising textile artist, qualified teacher and experienced tutor, organising and delivering arts projects and workshops for Thread and Press CIC in the East Yorkshire and surrounding area.
