Organised by

We hope that you will be able to join us for an evening of networking and debate on the 31st anniversary of the death of Steven Lawrence, on the 22 April 2024. It will be an opportunity to remember Stephen and continue his legacy through policing. We know that although policing has made changes in the past 31 years, they have not been fast enough and have not gone far enough.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and West Midlands Police, would like to invite you to our joint event, which will give you the opportunity to input into the debate. A fresh spotlight is thrown on the issue of race and discrimination constantly, both within the ranks of policing and also in relation to how communities are policed. We intend to update you on the Police Race Action Plan and what we have been doing, have a period of reflection and engagement with you as community members tell us about the reality of the work that they are doing through round table discussions.

If you would like to attend, please book a space; it is important so that we are clear on the numbers attending as there are limited spaces.

To ensure a smooth question time session, we kindly request that you send your questions to michelle.ugwueze@westmidlands.police.uk in advance of the event.
