We'll meet at the Burton Dassett Hills Country Park, to take in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. We then head southeast towards Avon Dassett, before continuing our journey to the charming village of Farnborough. On the way, we can take a wander round the National Trust maintained woodland and Sourland Pool. We then start to loop back along The Slade, still taking in the beauty of rural Warwickshire. We'll visit the Fox Covert before returning to the Burton Dassett Hills and taking in the views one last time.

Elevation: 250 metres/ 820 feet

Who will be your guide?

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Megan Endean (megan.endean on Instagram), and I’m a Mountain Leader, based in the Midlands but I grew up in Devon. My hobby (obsession!?) with being outdoors started with my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh, and I’ve never looked back. I’m passionate about improving accessibility to the outdoors, and aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment to all. I look forward to meeting you!

If you are booked onto the hike please fill in one of these forms no later than the night before. You will not be allowed to partake in the hike unless you have filled out this form. I will send out a reminder 2 days before the event.

Transport

What to bring:

Walking boots or sturdy shoes/trainers
Plenty of snacks and a packed lunch
I always like to take a flask of tea, but that’s entirely optional
Rucksack
Water (I'd recommend 1-2 litres)
Waterproofs and warm clothing

Terrain:

This is a fairly long hike, with potential for muddy footpaths in addition to paved bridleways. The route has around 250m of ascent, which we will take at a steady pace, suitable for everyone. You may want to bring walking poles, if they would make you feel more comfortable.

Safety:

I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns - I'd be happy to chat through any worries before you sign up to the hike.

I am a fully qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency. I am also a Mental Health First Aider.

Dogs:

Dogs are more than welcome on my hikes, but please ensure that they are well-behaved. They will need to be kept on a lead for the duration of the walk, due to the number of livestock around. Please ensure that your dog is able to cope with the demands of an 14km hike, as this is a long way for some of our four-legged friends!

Refund Policy:

Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.
