About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Old Sulehay supports one of the last remnants of the ancient Rockingham Forest noted for its amazing displays of woodland wildflowers. The varied soil types underlying the area have given rise to a diverse flora, and because the woodland has never been replanted, it is also a great place to see and understand semi-natural woodland plant communities or vegetation. During the workshop we will learn the identification features of a wide range of characteristic woodland plant species, with a focus on those which indicate ancient woodland. We will also explore the natural variation in the plant communities found in British woodlands.
