Roger Illsley will deliver a talk on his forthcoming publication about the Wright family and 18th century Dundee. ‘Wrighting Wrongs – the story of a Dundee dynasty’ is a commemorative heirloom volume that will be published in September 2025 to celebrate the lives of famous social reformer Frances Wright and her family in Dundee and the USA from the 1720s –1880s. Her father, James Wright junior, is the foremost Scottish designer of 18th century provincial coins. All net proceeds from book sales and sponsorship will be donated to support local Dundee charities; the primary beneficiary will be Dundee Carers Centre, charity no. SC024115. Doors open from 12.30pm at the Glasite Hall on King Street. Please enter from the churchyard or the east side of the building (the lift is available from both sides but the accessible door is at the east entrance). You DO NOT need to bring a printed ticket.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available to purchase before the talk. Entry to the talks are free but if you would like to make a donation towards the hire of the hall, there will be a donations tin available.
