About this event

Wycinanki (pronounced vee-chee-nan-kee) is a traditional hands-on experience centred around the traditional Polish folk art of papercutting. Participants learn to create intricate, symmetrical designs by hand, using scissors to cut colourful layers of paper into stunning patterns.

In these workshops you'll learn all about the history, materials & tools used, and why so many wycinanki are inspired by nature like flowers and chickens and the rural places in Poland you can find them. You'll have the chance to create your own Wycinanki artwork to frame and take home with you.

Alexandra Lunn is the founder of Well–Crafted, a platform that brings people together to participate in hands-on, craft based activities. She learnt wycinanki ancient from her Babcia (Polish Grandmother) and from her travels around rural Poland, 2011.

All ages, children accompanied by adults
