Description

The UCL institute of Archaeology will be hosting a one-day conference, reporting the most up to date results from the ERC-funded EUROEVOL project, providing a new account of the role of farming in transforming early European societies between c.8000-4000 BP. The team, led by Professor Stephen Shennan, will present results on a number of key demographic events charcterising the European Neolithic as well as novel insights into the susbsistence strategies and sustainability of early agricultural systems. The team will also showcase new methods and approaches in archaeological reasoning, and present results on modelling the cultural transmission processes of early European farmers. The day will consist of presentations from the EUROEVOL team members and we expect the day to spark some lively discussions, led by invited discussants Dorian Fuller, Jean Denis Vigne, Alex Bentley and Johannes Müller. This is a free event and we recommend booking a place on eventbrite as places are limited.
