Alicia Anabel Santos

Alicia Anabel Santos is a Writer, Producer, Playwright, Speaker, Activist, Teaching Artist, Afrolatina Lesbian Storyteller, and Priestess. She is initiated in several African Traditional Religions and a practitioner of La Regla de Ocha y Palo Mayombe. In 2019, she launched LA SANTERA, an organization offering clients support as they deepen their spiritual practice, facilitating workshops such as Introduction to La Regla de Ocha (Lucumi), Healing Anti-Blackness, and The Dark Room (Shadow healing). She was born in Brooklyn and is a proud Dominican Writer. Alicia is founder of the NYC Latina Writers Group, recipient of the 2024 NYSCA Grant and the 2018 and 2024 BRIO (Bronx Recognizes its Own) Award in fiction. She is a Cave Canem and VONA Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation alum. In 2011, she published her memoir, Finding Your Force: A Journey to Love and her one-woman show I WAS BORN was part of the ONE Festival in New York which premiered in 2010. In 2008 Anabel joined Creador Pictures, as Writer & Producer for the documentary series Afrolatinos: The Untaught Story. These days she can be found practicing brujería, reading tarot, and facilitating spiritual retreats and writing workshops for senior citizens in the Bronx and Manhattan. She attended New York University and lives in the Bronx, New York.
