Anchor Bankside
The Anchor Bankside, rebuilt in 1676 after the great fire of London, is the sole survivor of the river taverns of Shakespeare's time. We were then the epicentre of the theatre district and the favoured inn for the local river pirates, our Friday nights were hopping!
We are based in the ever-bustling London borough of Southwark, a fascinating cross-section of culture and history. With foodie-favourite Borough Market minutes away, the iconic London Bridge river crossing, plus both the original and recreated sites of Shakespeare’s Globe
