City & Guilds of London Art School

City & Guilds of London Art School is a small, not-for-profit higher education provider in central London.

We specialise in teaching Fine Art, Carving, Conservation and Illustration at Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, focusing on both traditional and contemporary skills, processes and theories.

Because we are committed to ‘learning through making’ and material enquiry, studio practice and hands-on workshops are central to student life at the Art School. Our studios are bright and spacious, and each student has their own full-time, dedicated work space as well as access to specialist workshop facilities.

If you study with us, you’ll be part of a close-knit creative community of artists, makers, carvers, conservators and researchers. We provide a high tutor-to-student ratio, so as well as tutorials, lectures and workshops, you’ll receive plenty of one-to-one support from your tutors, who are all professional artists and experts in their fields.

As we have been teaching fine art and heritage craft skills for over a century, we have developed incredible industry links with leading institutions and organisations. Along with our thriving alumni network, this allows us to offer our students prestigious live projects and commissions in the heritage sector, helping to develop their professional practice.

Thanks to our well-deserved reputation for excellence, we have developed a strong network of supporters and benefactors, enabling us to offer a broad range of grants and financial assistance to support our students’ education.

Our graduates go on to forge successful careers as contemporary artists, designers, carvers and conservators as well as pursuing further study and research. In the last five years, almost 100% of our Conservation students have found employment in their chosen fields within six months of graduation; our Carving graduates are busy on major commissions and our Fine Art alumni are constantly showing their work as well as establishing their own successful projects and gallery spaces.
