Old Exeter Inn

Old Exeter Inn at Ashburton on Dartmoor, Devon is one of the oldest inns of the world. We have been serving continuously here for 894 years. From the Dark Ages to the present day without a break! Our history is extensive and the great Tudor explorer and spy, Sir Walter Raleigh was arrested here on July 19 1603 for treason against King James I. We have a maze of stunning, dark candle-lit rooms and a fabulous apothecary garden (with its own cider bar and pizzeria). We serve good simple cooking and have an outstanding selection of drinks. There aren't many pubs left in the world like the Old Exeter Inn.
