Community Housing Education Center

The IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals in partnership with CHEC (Community Housing Education Center).

Walk-In Times: No Walk Ins

The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

The VITA team will be available year-round to help low- and medium-income individuals and families prepare and e-file their income tax returns.

This free tax preparation service provides filing assistance to qualified residents who:

Have income $67,000 or less

Have no rental property or farm income

Have Expenses $5,000 or less and no net loss

Have picture ID

Have Social Security Card(s)

Have (if applicable) Form 1095-A (Health Insurance Statement)

Have a copy of previous year’s tax return (if applicable)

To file taxes electronically on a married-filing-jointly tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
